A comprehensive kinematics guide to pairing external controllers, calibrating gyroscope deadzones, and mastering dual-stick inverted navigation.
Precision Kinematics: Configuring External Gamepads and Gyroscope in ReverseWorldGo
*How to pair Bluetooth gamepads with iOS, calibrate analog stick response curves, and map inverted spatial axes for precision puzzle control.*
While ReverseWorldGo is designed to be played using iPhone motion sensors, competitive players tackling the high-speed Time Attack Trials (Levels 40–60) require millisecond-exact physical actuation.
When moving at rapid speeds through rotating 3D inverted puzzle fields, physical thumbsticks provide tactile resistance and sub-degree precision that touch gestures cannot match.
ReverseWorldGo includes full hardware support for Apple MFi (Made for iPhone), Sony PlayStation DualSense, Nintendo Switch Pro, and Microsoft Xbox Wireless controllers via the GameController framework.
This guide covers controller pairing, axis inversion mapping, and deadzone calibration.
1. Supported Hardware Controllers
ReverseWorldGo supports any wireless controller compatible with iOS 16+:
- Sony PlayStation DualSense & DualSense Edge: Full haptic actuator integration and capacitive touchpad gesture support.
- Xbox Wireless Controller (Model 1708+) & Xbox Elite Series 2: Excellent analog thumbstick tension.
- Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: Full gyroscope telemetry pass-through.
- Backbone One & Razer Kishi: Hardware Lightning/USB-C direct connection with sub-1ms input latency.
2. Pairing and Initial Detection
- *PlayStation DualSense*: Hold the Create button and PS button simultaneously until the light bar flashes blue. - *Xbox Controller*: Hold the Pairing button on top for three seconds until the Xbox logo flashes rapidly.
- Place your controller into Bluetooth pairing mode:
- On your iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and tap the controller under *Other Devices*.
- Launch ReverseWorldGo. The game will emit a subtle confirmation chime and display a controller badge in the status HUD.

[Metal 60 FPS Camera Coordinate Matrix]3. Configuring Inverted Axis Response Curves
Under Settings > Controller Configuration in ReverseWorldGo:
Thumbstick Mapping Options:
- True Inversion (Default & Recommended): Pushing the right analog stick UP tilts the virtual camera DOWN; pushing LEFT pans the camera RIGHT. This matches the inverted optics of the camera pass.
- Decoupled Flight Mode: Inverts only the vertical pitch axis while keeping yaw standard (similar to classic flight simulators).
Analog Deadzone Tuning:
Worn controller thumbsticks often develop subtle sensor drift.
- Set Inner Deadzone to $0.08$ (8%): Prevents phantom camera panning when your thumbs rest lightly on the sticks.
- Set Response Curve to Exponential ($\gamma = 1.4$): Provides fine micro-adjustments near the center while retaining high angular velocity at full stick deflection.
4. Utilizing Hybrid Gyroscope Aiming ("Gyro-Aim")
The most lethal control scheme for Level 50+ speedruns is DualStick + Gyroscope Assist:
- Use the left thumbstick for coarse positional navigation.
- Enable "Motion Sensor Assist" in controller settings.
- Gently tilt the physical controller in your hands to execute fine sub-pixel alignments on small puzzle nodes.
This mirrors the control scheme popularized by competitive console shooters, delivering the speed of an analog stick with the precision of a mouse.
